Day 1.Arrival at Paro – Thimphu sightseeing | Altitude: 2334 m | 56 Km | Drive: 1 hour.

Meet and greet at the Paro International Airport and drive to Thimphu. A short stop on the way to view Tamchog lhakhang built in the fifteenth century by Thang Tong Gyalpo.

In the afternoon, visit to:

  • Memorial chorten built in honor of the late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and for the world peace.
  • Tallest statue of Buddha Dordenma in the world at Kuensel Phodrang park (51.5 m).

In the evening, visit to the Tashichho dzong, the royal secretariat and the seat of central monastic body. The annual 3 days Thimphu festival is held here in September.
